Physical Therapy
T

he goal of Pediatric Physical Therapy is to assist children with special needs in achieving their maximal functional potential. Pediatric Physical Therapists are specially trained to work with a wide range of orthopedic and neurological conditions.  Realization of a child's full potential is accomplished through the implementation, in the clinic and at home, of a treatment program designed to address each child's unique concerns.  Functional goals targeted by a treatment program may include:

  • Home Program: A program will be provided to establish the most appropriate manner of handling and positioning the child.

  • Locomotion: A program will be provided to facilitate the development of the most appropriate means of locomotion.

  • Gait Training: A program will be provided to maximize the efficiency and stability of a child's gait.

  • Balance Training: A program will be provided to maximize balance skills while sitting or walking.

  • Muscle Strengthening: An exercise program will be provided to increase the strength and range of motion of weakened muscles and joints.
